How are Earthquakes caused?
Earthquakes are caused by either the by the conservative boundary or a destructive plate boundary. The conservative boundary are two plates rubbing together which creates friction and after a while, intense tremors. Furthermore, the destructive type where one plate goes underneath the other is like a spring ready to pop and if the one underneath suddenly gets released and rises quickly upwards ; It will cause rapid friction and once again tremors and if under the sea, a tsunami will occur like in Japan. Pakistan Earthquake Study.
Recently a huge earthquake struck a remote, rural area in Pakistan , killing at least 39 people and creating a new island off the coast of Pakistan. It is estimated to be about 200 feet long and roughly qu This sizeable earthquake Measurered 7.7 magnitude according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquake was even felt by India's capital, Delhi, and Pakistan's biggest city, Karachi. The epicenter was a rural area in Balochistan, Pakistan's biggest but least populated province. The area consists of villages with mostly mud-brick homes which were in no way prepared for the earthquake due to the poor infrastructure, leaving rescue teams worried that the number of deaths would rise sharply overnight. Damage to phone towers made communication to some villages impossible. Pakistan also suffers from chronic electricity outages that can last for several hours, especially in smaller villages and towns. There is a concern that what little power the area received may have been cut off because of damaged transformers. |
